Chapter 21 - Muddy puddles

Updated: Jan 30

Wow that was an amazing temp assignment, just finished a 6 month interim job with a fabulous company, all with thanks to the ladies at tempsimalta. I had wanted something to really challenge me and to expose me to an entirely different industry group and oh boy did they deliver! An utterly super experience to now pop on my resume, which I’m quite sure will make my profile even more attractive to prospective employees!

Toward the end of my interim job I popped into the office to see the ladies to find out what else they may have for me once this one was over with. When I arrived, I felt so sorry for them, they were super super busy but sadly two interviewees who had confirmed their interviews, from what I can gather, a good few times, via email, text and phone, had just decided not to turn up to their interviews! It really does beggar belief that nowadays people just decide to ‘not show up!’, I mean how easy is it to just call or even just say ‘sorry no, I’m not interested in this role’! after all, that’s what a recruitment agency like tempsinmalta are for, they literally match our profiles and wants to roles they have with their varied clients across all industry groups. No excuse really. So I waited whilst they were appeasing the clients, who completely understood it wasn’t tempsinmaltas fault but still a waste of their time too.

I can recall a time at the beginning of the year, I had an interview and literally before I left the house, my then 7 year old tells me she had a project today and she needed a myriad of paraphernalia including, wool, paperclips, ribbons and goodness knows what else, so frantically rushing around trying to see what I could muster! Then into the car and guess what …. You’ll not believe my luck, my car battery died!

So taxi it was, however, I kid you not, it was raining and as the taxi pulled up, I could see he was moving a tad too fast toward a puddle and before I could think about dive bombing out the way, he splashed my legs with muddy water (7 year old escaped said muddy water by hiding behind me!), so whilst in the back of the taxi, whipped those tights off (I’m quite sure the taxi driver must have wondered what on earth I was up to), stuffed them in my handbag and made my way to the school to drop off my disorganised but now fully equipped paperclip and wool child to the school gates. I did make sure on the way call to call Rachel at the tempsimalta office and let her know I could be 5/10 mins late and would she be so kind as to let the client know. Thankfully I wasn’t too late at all and managed to compose myself and the interview went well! (it was in fact the temp job I just finished now).

I’ve now got some super interviews lined up that tempsinmalta have put together for me, so wish me luck guys! I shall make sure the mechanic looks over my car before I leave for the next lot of interviews ….. oh and maybe a fresh pair of tights in my bag just in case 😉
